Today's Sci Fi products that were predicted decades ago!
Many products that were predicted years ago have become commonplace today. Here are a few examples:
Video Calling: Video calling technology was predicted in science fiction novels and television shows as far back as the mid-20th century. Today, platforms like Skype, FaceTime, and Zoom have made video calling a common part of daily communication.
Computers: The first concept of computers introduced was ENIAC, the first programmable general-purpose electronic digital computer. Built during World War II by the United States with American physicist John Mauchly, American engineer J. Presper Eckert, Jr., and their colleagues at the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. The machine was designed specifically for computing values for artillery range tables. - WIKIPEDIA
Voice-Activated Assistants: Assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant were predicted in science fiction as early as the 1960s, although real people were used then. Today, these assistants are integrated into smartphones, smart speakers, and other devices, allowing users to control technology with their voices.
Self-Driving Cars: The concept of self-driving cars has been a staple of science fiction for decades. While fully autonomous vehicles are still in development, semi-autonomous features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist are already available in many cars and trucks on the market.
Total Recall 1990
3D Video Holograms: In the 1977 movie, Star Wars, R2D2 projects a holographic image of Princess Leia asking C-3PO, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi for help.
Cell Phones: In 1966, StarTrek presented the flip phone communicator. Motorola introduced the first mobile flip phone 30 years later.
Smart Watches: Chester Gould gave fans a glimpse into the future in 1946 when he created "Dick Tracy" and his two-way wrist radio.
Artificial Intelligence or A.I.: Much discussion has been had about A.I., some good, some very controversial.
HAL 9000 is introduced as a fictional artificial intelligence character and the main antagonistfirst appearing in in Arthur C. Clarke's 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. HAL is a sentientartificial intelligencecomputer that controls the systems of the Discovery One spacecraft and interacts with the ship's astronaut crew. No spoilers if you haven't seen the film...
These are just a few examples of products that were predicted decades ago and have since become part of everyday life.
